Yaad Delight
The Yaad Delight branding project involved creating a comprehensive visual identity for a new client in the fresh juice and beverage industry. Yaad Delight is a brand focused on delivering natural, refreshing fruit-based delights, emphasizing health, sustainability, and tropical flavors. My role was to design a logo, color palette, patterns, and applications across various merchandise items, including reusable mugs, t-shirts, caps, business cards, banners, and promotional materials. The project spanned from initial client briefing to final delivery over a period of 8 weeks, resulting in a vibrant, eco-friendly brand identity that captures the essence of fresh, juicy delights.

Challenges and Objectives
The primary challenge was to differentiate Yaad Delight in a saturated market of beverage brands, where many competitors use generic fruit imagery. The client sought a unique logo that evoked freshness, fun, and natural ingredients without being overly literal or clichéd. Objectives included:
- Developing a versatile logo that works across digital and physical mediums.
- Incorporating sustainable themes, as the brand promotes eco-friendly practices.
- Ensuring the design appeals to a young, health-conscious audience while being scalable for merchandise.
- Balancing bold colors for vibrancy with simplicity for easy reproduction. Budget constraints required efficient iterations, and tight deadlines meant streamlining the feedback process to avoid scope creep.

Research and Discovery
I began by conducting thorough research to understand the client's vision and market positioning. This included:
- Client interviews to gather insights on brand values—freshness, delight, and Jamaican-inspired "Yaad" (meaning home or yard in patois, evoking homemade, natural vibes).
- Competitor analysis of juice brands like Innocent Drinks and Tropicana, noting their use of playful illustrations and green/red color schemes.
- Trend research on sustainable branding, color psychology (green for growth and nature, red for energy and passion), and fruit iconography, focusing on watermelons for their juicy, summery appeal.
- Audience surveys via quick online polls to test preferences for organic, fun designs.
- Mood boarding with references to tropical fruits, eco-patterns, and minimalist logos to align with the client's goal of a "delightful, refreshing" feel.
Concept Development
Building on the research, I sketched initial concepts centering on a stylized watermelon slice integrated with a leaf to symbolize growth and freshness. The logo evolved through three rounds of iterations:
- First, rough sketches explored abstract fruit shapes, leading to a circular watermelon form with splashing juice dots for dynamism.
- Color palette finalized: Vibrant red for the fruit flesh, green rind and leaf for nature, and white accents for cleanliness.
- Patterns developed as repeating watermelon motifs for backgrounds, applied to mugs and banners.
- Mockups created for merchandise: Reusable mugs with silicone grips, t-shirts with front prints, embroidered caps, business cards with subtle gradients, and a fruit-patterned signboard.
- Tools like Adobe Illustrator were used for vector designs, ensuring scalability. Client feedback refined the logo's curves for a more organic look, and final assets were prepared in multiple formats.

Results and Impact
The completed branding was delivered on time, and the client reported a 30% increase in social media engagement during the launch phase, attributing it to the eye-catching, shareable designs. The logo's versatility allowed seamless integration into packaging, website, and events, enhancing brand recognition. Merchandise like the mugs and t-shirts became popular promotional items, aligning with the sustainability focus by using eco-materials. Overall, the project strengthened Yaad Delight's market entry, with positive feedback on its fresh, approachable identity, positioning it for future expansions like product lines or partnerships.
